Having deducted that Brigget gave Ray the original ring of nine lives, Grace demands it back. Feeling betrayed by two of her party members, Harrison and Grace teleport away with all of their horses. Ray, Brigget and Angus decide to keep going in the back of the cave. The three of them find a room with symbols on the floor. When they enter, nothing happens. After hours of deliberation, they decide that the four pillars in the room need to be touched in a specific order. They call for Isania for help.
While they are waiting for a response, three ogre mages with tattoos come through the portal. They defeat the three ogres with Angus' new pet, a dragonhawk, the only causality. Isania shows up and communicates with Grace to find out why the party split up. Isania decides to help Ray, Brigget, and Angus. Once the portal is open, Isania teleports out and the three go through the portal.
Angus and Ray end up on a plane that looks similar, but somewhere else in Azeroth. Angus realizes that they are in the Swamp of Sorrows, sometime in the past because the Temple of Hakkar is above the water. They try there hearthstones and they end up back in the mages' tower, however there stones are very dark. The two of them decide to go to the inn and get drunk for the night. They end up sleeping on the bar.
Brigget ends up in the Twisting Nether and decides to use his hearthstone when an unknown object starts to head his way. Brigget hearths back to Goldshire where Wendy meets up with him. She gives him a book to read. She tells him to leave by the door, knowing he needed to meet up with Grace and Harrison at an exact time. Brigget argues with Wendy and decides to wind walk out the window to meet Grace and Harrison in Stormwind.
After teleporting to Ironforge, Grace and Harrison take care of some business. Then they head to Stormwind to spend the night. In the morning, they teleport to Menethil harbor and get on a boat to Darnassus.
Missing the meeting with Grace and Harrison, Ray decides to get a new hearthstone where he is promptly turned down. He is told that they will slowly recharge with time. Brigget casts sending to Harrison to find out where he and Grace went. While Ray and Brigget argue how to catch up with the two of them, Angus finds someone who will teleport all of them to Menethil harbor. While in Menethil, Ray relinquishes his leadership position to Angus. (Yay! No more Raytatorship!!) Angus finds a way onto one of the ships to Darnassus, but it's very expensive. They are successful to getting on the ship, but the experience made them all sick. Luckily for them, it was the same ship Grace and Harrison are on. Ray "apologizes" to Grace without knowing what he's apologizing for.
While on the ship, Ray and Harrison decide to play poker with the crew. They are successful in playing a hand with the Captain. The rules for his game is you pick how many cards you want. Once you get them, it's over. The Captain goes first and his body slumps over. Any attempt to resurrect him fails. When it comes to Ray's turn, he ends up losing 10,000 experience and four points of intelligence, but gaining the answer to his next question and a fourth level fighter named Persephone. Harrison was lucky a gained a new weapon.
While the boys are doing their thing, Grace tries to reach the Solar that entrusted the original ring of nine lives to her. She is successful and convinces the Solar to take it back. Grace can no longer trust part of her party and feels that since she can't trust them, she cannot be trusted with such a treasure. The Solar takes the ring back somewhat reluctantly.
The boat shows up in Teladrisil. The group goes up to the sentinels guarding the portal. After explaining why the group is there, they are escorted to meet Staghelm. Once they meet him, Harrison gives Staghelm the Horn of Cenarius. Staghelm blows the horn and is very grateful. He tells the group of the upcoming festival and bids them to stay for it. Grace shows Staghelm Witheroak. Staghelm is very surprised and believes it to be the staff of the Master. Staghelm asks to keep it and agrees to help Grace replace the weapon to the best of the elves' ability.
The druids perform a ritual on Ray to restore him to his former "self". He receives elf tattoos from the ritual and is told he must be an ally to nature, and that he will be contacted from time to time.
